Confidence in 2010

In 2009, I brought in “resiliency” and then laid claims to “courage”. How remarkable of a journey it has been. Even though I have come a long ways I am still learning these and will continue to do so in 2010.

I’ve given lots of thought to what word I want to lay claim to for 2010.  I’ve asked “What do I want to learn in 2010?” And “What hinders me from reaching the places I want to go?” What I keep coming back to is confidence. I need and want confidence because it is something that I lack.

If I’m really honest, I would have to say that my soul hungers to feel confident.

Confident in my skin, in my mind, and in my soul.

Confidence speaks of believing. It says “I can.” It say’s “I believe that I can do this or that.”

I see confident people and I say to myself, “ I want what they have.” I am jealous.  This is how I want to be.

I looked up the definition of confidence. This is what I found…Confidence: full trust; belief in the powers, trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing:belief in oneself and one's powers or abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance

I also found this… Self confidence is the difference between feeling unstoppable and feeling scared out of your wits. Your perception of yourself has an enormous impact on how others perceive you. Perception is reality — the more self confidence you have, the more likely it is you’ll succeed.

I want to feel unstoppable. I don’t want to let fear stop me from doing those things I want to do. Over this year of 2010 I want…

Here I am standing before you, God and the universe, proclaiming that 2010 is my year to learn confidence.

I know it will not be easy. I know I have a lot to learn. I know that it means taking risks and doing things I’ve been too afraid to do. It means walking the talk. It means taking things from my head and putting them into action. It means I might make some mistakes. It could mean looking or sounding foolish or stupid.  It means not everyone will understand or even like it. Most of all it means facing the biggest obstacle, which is me.

My desire is to get to the end of 2010 confident in who I am, confident about the journey I’ve been on and confident that I am exactly where I’m suppose to be.

It starts with believing.

“I am confident!”

What word would you claim for 2010?

What would you like to learn this year?

Where would you like to see yourself at the end of 2010?

Love & Hugs, Lori

Good Heavens! Of all people YOU should have ALL the confidence in the world! I mean, look back and see how much you have made it through-all the while becoming BETTER for ALL of it! Brush yourself off of the past and smile my friend. You are THE SHIT!

The way that this post is packed full of confidence, so are you. Have the confidence to see you as others see you and accept the goodness you see there.

YOU GO GIRL! Confidence is something that comes from within and radiates outward. Lots of people are really good at faking it (just like most things people present of themselves). I have confidence in you that you will accomplish your goal.

Take a minute to see yourself for all of the wonderful things that the people who love and know you recognize, and you will see that you, of all people, deserve to have all of the confidence in the world!!!

Beautiful thoughs, Lori. This passage was in my mind as I was reading through your post:

"Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string. Accept the place the divine providence has found for you, the society of your contemporaries, the connection of events. Great men have always done so, and confided themselves childlike to the genius of their age, betraying their perception that the absolutely trustworthy was seated at their heart, working through their hands, predominating in all their being." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Me? I want to learn to be more calm... and take a deep breath before reacting to anything.

This is my first time meeting you, but as I read your glorious post, all I could think was "You go, girl!" With the determination that shines through your words, I can't believe confidence won't be knocking at your door and taking up residence in no time. You're quite inspirational and I'm glad I've stumbled upon your blog. I'll be back.

As for me, I'm hoping and praying for peace in 2010 ... in my heart, mind and soul, which are all so NOT at rest at the moment.

Here's to all of us in 2010!

You're on your way. I can't tell you how far I've seen people go who begin with a declaration of where they're going - crazy as it sounds. I Am Confident. The most amazing transformation I've ever seen came from a woman I know well. When she had nothing (and I do mean nothing), she declared, "I am a strong, confident, highly successful woman who earns over $100,000 a year." She put stickies all over her house and in her car. We thought she was nuts. You should see her today.

You said a mouthful.

I think we all have issues with self-confidence. I know mine stems from a strong distaste for arrogant, conceited, self-absorbed, narcissistic people - so I tried to follow a humbler route. Well, I'm an idiot. The two are completely separate and mutually exclusive.

Confidence is not a show - it's an inward belief and trust which emanates from your core being. It's graceful not forceful. It's a breeze not a malestrom. Confident people don't have to tell you they're confident, you just know. You sense it. The others are just impostors. They are hopeless wannabes who are more scared of themselves than you or I ever could be. Because they are all about pretense and appearance.

True confidence, I think, is an awakening to the fact that we are all equal. We are all the same. We are all as good as the next person. We have the same opportunities. We have the same abilities. It's just how we choose to exercise that belief.

I have a feeling, you are going to do just fine in 2010. And hopefully, I will be walking alongside you every confident step of the way.

I think confidence would be an amazing thing to learn! I see the difference between my daughter and I. Confidence has made her into an amazing person. It has made her beautiful. I want that too.

I will learn confidence with you. It might take more than a year...I've been trying so hard for many many years.

I also lack confidence. It has hindered me quite a bit in my life. Maybe I should resolve right along with you!
