Update

Greetings from Brittany at Unexpected Surprises....

My mom asked me to do a guest post for her. Sitting and blogging is too much for her right now. Although she has started many posts, it has been hard for her to finish them. This is killing my mom. She loves reading your posts, and interacting with you. You are her window to the outside world. You are the people that understand her situation the most. I want you all to know that she cares about all of you so much, and misses your encouraging comments and support.

When I saw my mom at the airport, she looked normal. In fact it wasn't until I looked at the details of her life that I realized how sick she was. It was in the un-dusted shelves, and spots on the windows. It was in the tone of her voice. It was in the weight gain. It was the look in her eyes, and the lack of energy.  It was the utter look of helplessness she gave me at times.

My mom is seeing several doctors at the moment. She is going in next Thursday to see a new doctor, and to have some tests done. She is looking forward to getting more information, and hopefully it is one step closer to her becoming healthy! *fingers crossed*

It is hard to watch her in pain, but it was harder to be halfway across the country not knowing what was going on. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to be here with my mom and to be able to encourage her, and take care of her. I know that God is going to take care of her, and make her stronger because of this. I have to remind myself on a daily basis that she is in his hands. Big thank yous to all of you who have written my mom to encourage her, to all of you who have prayed, and for all of you that have inspired her. She'll be back soon, until then keep her in your prayers!

Brittany, you know that footprints in the sand poem? Well, sometimes Christ sends us people to carry us through just as you are carrying your mom right now. This post makes me happy because I know she is feeling your love and she is not alone but surrounded by loving people. Do not let her feel guilty for having you there. I know she is feeling it but tell her a million times a day to stop and let her know how important it is for her to learn the lesson of allowing help into her life unconditionally. She is a giver and a caretaker in the most literal sense and her lesson of allowing the being taken care of is here and now. With you. What a blessing! My prayers are with you and your mom and your family. Love to Lori! Strength to Lori! Hope for the new doctor! I am shouting it from Nevada.

Oh, Brittany, I am SO glad you are there for your mother. She is just about the sweetest, kindest and most caring person I know, online or in the real world.

Please tell her that Jan from the Sushi Bar sends her love and a big hug, too!

Thank you for the update Brittany...although I wished it was better. Your mom has been in my thoughts and prayers. I really was hoping that not hearing from her meant she was crazy busy with life. I only wish...

I am SO happy you are there with her. I can't imagine how happy this makes her. And the little ones as well.
You are a wonderful daughter...I can only wish mine will be as good to me as you are to your mom.
Give her hugs...encouragement and love from me!!!!

You will be blessed for helping her out. I think in antidepressant TV commercials there should be a warning that, for some, these little pills turn dark days into midnight.

Brittany,
I don't even know what to say. I cried reading this post. Then I cried again reading all the comments.
It's been awhile since I have sent your mom a message, but she is always in my thoughts and prayers. She is one of the few people that I truly think about every day.
It is so painfully heartbreaking to hear about the pain that she is going through, and I wish that it would just disappear. That is why I initially cried.
Then I cried because I was so happy that she has an amazing daughter to take care of her when she needs it the most. That she has a family, a physical family and an entire cyber community that love her so much! Please give her my love along with everyone else's. And call me if you ever need anything!

Brittany (what a pretty name!) I'm so happy to know you are there with your mom now. I'm praying for her...she has been such an inspiration to me. I miss her stopping by my place and leaving encouraging comments too. I do not understand why these doctors pushed these dangerous drugs and I don't know much about withdrawal except from what your mom has had to say. Your mom has been so strong for so many for so long. She needs time and space and love to heal now. Thank God you are there. Take care and God bless you all. We her friends anxiously await the day we here good news from Lori again. Sending love your way.

Brittany, Thank you so much for posting and update on your Mom. I actually woke up in the middle of the night yesterday thinking about her. My prayers and virtual hugs are sent her way daily.

It must be a huge relief for her to have you with her. Please know prayers and support are being sent to you too.

Please tell your mom not to worry about posting, we're all still here for her and I'm keeping her on my sidebar so I'll be able to see any updates from you or her.

Wishing tour mom an easy, smooth and complete recovery. Love to you all.

I just Emailed her the other day and received no response, which really had me worried. Lori, please realize how many people love and care about you. You can turn this thing around (((HUGS)))

It's always so hard when a parent and a child suddenly find themselves changing places. To be the caregiver for the entire life of your child and then to find yourself in a position where your child is having to take the reins and care for you is hard. BUT, it is such a blessing to have a child who cares enough to want to step into that position. Your Mom is a precious woman and she is going to be alright in time. Love will always see you through the dark places. Give Lori my love and well wishes. She will continue to be in my prayers.

Hi Brittany, THanks for posting for your mom. I was worried about her and wondered how she was faring. I know that depression and anxiety is a special kind of hell. I am praying for her and hoping that she will come out the other side soon. :)

Just stopping by. Saying a prayer, and holding out hope.
You're not alone on this journey. You're in my thoughts. Today, I'd like to share the sunshine with you, the birds singing, and the green things that are starting to grow again.
Be well. You matter! God is with you.

Hi Brittany! So glad you're there watching over your mom. I can only imagine how difficult all this is to cope with and get through. It's such a debilitating illness! Bless you for being there.

In her last post, your mom really laid it out there and I only then began to see the desperation of her condition. I love her so much and am praying for her speedy recovery. Hope the doctors are able to figure things out fast and give her some well deserved relief.

Please keep us informed.

Blessings to you all.
