Idiosyncrasy's?

Each of us have quirks or idiosyncrasy’s… those habits, mannerism’s or characteristics that define our individuality. It’s these things that make us unique from one another. Instead of being cookie cutter copies of one another we have these little(okay sometimes big) quirks that make me, me and you, you.

I happen to like quirks. I enjoy the idiosyncrasy’s of other’s. They make me smile and sometimes laugh. It’s these idiosyncrasy’s or quirks that make the world go around…makes life interesting. Yes, these quirks can drive me crazy and yes they can get annoying, but nonetheless we all have them. Yes, you. And you. And me of course. And since we all have them, we may as well enjoy them or at least accept them…our own and other people’s.

Life would get pretty boring if we were all the same…all copies of one another. It’s the idiosyncrasy’s that make each person stand out from the rest and expresses who they are. For me, perfection lies in the idiosyncrasy’s of my loved ones…it’s what makes my husband perfect to me…it’s these things that other’s might call flaws, that I love about him.

I am sure that I have many more quirks than I realize. I am sure if I were to ask my loved ones, that have been around me for a long time, they could give me an ear full. I am sure I have done a pretty good job of driving people crazy with my idiosyncrasy’s and I’m even more certain that I have entertained these same people with some of my quirks.

I was thinking it would be more fun to write about the quirks of those in my family, then to write about mine but then I thought they might not like that, so I better stick to writing about my own.

Are you ready? Here they are…

*I am kind of obsessive when it comes to working out. If I can’t exercise for at least an hour I won’t do it. If I get interrupted during my exercise time, I have to start all over again. And if there is not enough time to start all over again, then I just stop. If I am in exercise “mode”, it’s all I think about and all I want to do.

*I walk really, really fast. All of the time…even when I don’t need to or shouldn’t. I just walk fast and don’t even think about it. I walk like I have ants in my pants or like the house is on fire. I find myself getting very annoyed with slow walkers or people that get in my way. This drives my husband and children CRAZY. We will be some place, like the mall, and I’ll realize that I am walking by myself and I’ll stop and turn around and my husband will be way back, just standing there, waiting to see how long it will take me to notice that he’s not walking with me. You should see how fast I can walk when I am actually trying to walk fast for exercise. Let's just say my husband cannot keep up with me.

*Laughing. I talked about this in a post not long ago and just so you know I am still doing it. While I am happy to say that I have laughed at no funerals lately, I continue to laugh at things and times, when I shouldn’t be.

*I get stuck on certain words and then use that word all of the time. For example, recently, I use the word “ridiculous” a lot. I am not sure if it’s because then the little people say it too and it sounds so darn funny and cute when they say it. I will catch myself saying it all the time until I pick up a new word.

*Last, is my need for hot black coffee right away in the morning. I am not a morning person. I need coffee and quiet at the beginning of my day…please, please, please do NOT talk to me in the first half hour that I am awake. This is hard with little people that wake up early and have a hundred things to say to me, but let’s just say I’ve been training them to cooperate with my morning program.

Do you have any quirks you want to share? I would love to hear about them!

Oh, you and Beloved.

Zoom! Zoom!

He once suggested that I take up jogging and I told him, "I already DO jog - every time I walk with you!"

Love your spin!

People don't point out my quirks much except when I'm just about to say something really inappropriate.

I am a fast walker too. It's like there is only one gear - high. I get fidgety if I have to slow down. One day, walking to church in my short skirt and high heals, I caught up to and passed a jogger who was actually jogging. My husband won't walk with me.

I love all your quirks..I am also a fast walker and NOT a morning person at all...I need that coffee asap too. Brush teeth, then coffee.
I am annoyed when other people clutter up the table and counters in the house. If it is MY stuff, that is ok. :0

I wish I was a fast walker but these damn short legs just won't go!!

I've done the same thing with walking, just to realize I've left everyone else in my wake. When I'm on a mission, either keep up or get mowed over. I need to work on that. Great Spin! You're linked!

I like reading the story about your quirks! I also like to walk fast, mainly because I'm impatient. I don't like dawdling, except on sunny days, chatting with friends. But not when shopping, not when going anywhere. i have to go fast.
And "ridiculous"! it is a great word to say isn't it? I'll try and fit it in a couple of time today just for you lori ;)

There is a fine line between idiosyncrasies and just plain weird...and you never know that line until it is crossed. I don't think you have crossed the "sanity line"...YET!

We are just too much alike. If I can't finish something I won't even start it. I used to walk fast before all my hip problems and as I have posted about before, I laugh at the most inappropriate moments. When you said you need coffee and quiet for at least the first 30 minutes of the day I became convinced that we are actually sisters separated in our youth. I have to add that when I read I lose my hearing. I will be so absorbed in what I am reading that I hear absolutely nothing going on around me. Isn't it nice to be quirky!!!!

If there is something gross on the printed page- a mag or newspaper, whatever - I don't like touching it - *laughing* - as if it's real and will get on me...

when I was younger, I wouldn't even LOOK at the obits page or touch it....I'm still sorta like that.

I'm a fast walker too! I had a hard time figuring out my quirks this week, you did a much better job.

i also walk very fast, i have to have my coffee in the morning also, a complete must have. i think i am hyper, at home (when i'm at home, which lately is next to never) i am always busy, busy doing something. i enjoy a glass of white merlot nightly. not a soak, just have a glass (or 2) when i do finally sit down in the evening to relax...
just a few quirks.....
love a good laugh once in awhile, just 2 days ago i laughed so hard i cried twice, that was pretty cool!
have a great night my friend :)

This post made me laugh out loud!! I too have "inappropriate laughter" at times. And know what? I just don't care anymore, lol. That's just part of who I am.
I thank you so much smiles4your for the lovely sweet comment you left for me yesterday. My grandmother raised me and my three bother's after my parent's both died in 1976. I don't know where I would be today if not for my precious grandmother. God will bless you for what you are doing sweet lady. I'm sure that he already does each and every day :)
Take good care, know that you have touched my heart and......

I love all your quirks, and I wish I could develop that exercise quirk. I always begging for an interruption.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Great post!

Now about the exercise thing...Hmmm...not sure about that...just quirky!

I'm a fast walker too. Blue Eyes wears a brace...so I've slowed down for his benefit...but in reality...these long legs gotta go!

I have a THOUSAND....

the most odd is that I howl with Issac, our white lab, EVERY MORNING in the bathroom.

He only likes to howl to one song. Sing another one and he looks atcha like you're nuts!

And perhaps I am. ;)

I, too, am a fast walker. I will NOT go for a walk with my husband anymore because even though the man has run 1/2 marathons, I can walk circles around him. It. Drives. Me. Crazy!

But I AM a morning person. I can not stand to just lay in the bed in the morning. I'm usually awake by 6:00 am AND I HAVE to get up!

I absolutely, can not stand for people to leave their things laying around, except for my little girl. I'm not anybody's maid and they better not treat me like one! LOL

I don't have any quirks at all. Nope. None. I am the very definition of normal:)

My hubby doesn't like to be interrupted during "exercise mode" either.
Great spin!

Ha! I walk fast, too, and get SO annoyed when I'm stuck behind slow-pokes. Disneyland is torture for that very reason.

My mother was really fast walker too. I wanted to do this spin but didn't make it in time. I have too many to count anyway. Great spin.

Fast walker : ) So funny that you leave your family behind.

I wish I could start liking coffee just black. I like cream and sugar.
